2007 ARRL Straight Key Night

01/02/2007 | KI4CIA This was my second Straight Key Night and I had a blast! Being from the South, I was torn between watching the bowl games and playing on CW, but CW won out in the end (as it always does).

It was great hearing wall to wall CW QSOs on 40 and 20 meters.

While all the QSOs were great (thanks to KC1V, WD8KPM, WB4CDR, WR3F, KC2KME, W6QHD, W6KBJ, W9JI, W0SN, and fellow Alabamians K4UFS and KE4I), the most memorable was the 1 hr, 17 minute ragchew with W6KBJ on 20 meters.

It was especially great hearing all the new CW operators on the air this year, as well as hearing fellow Straight Key Century Club and FISTS members.

Thanks to the ARRL for holding this annual event, and I hope they continue to do so. Its a great opportunity for new CW operators (like myself) to get some contacts under our belt and work on our skills!

73,
Melinda, SKCC # 2, FISTS # 11956 -- KI4CIA
