2007 ARRL Straight Key Night

01/02/2007 | KF6PVY I really enjoyed SKN this new year 2007. I highly support CW on the amateur bands as it always has been, and am disappointed that Morse Code proficiency is no longer required for an amateur license in the USA.

I belong to and support the Fists CW club, they are dedicated to preservation of Morse Code. Am also an SKCC member (Straight Key Century Club), and spent most of 2006 beginning to learn the three basics. The straight key, Bug, and Sideswiper, using all three for SKN.

I made 9 contacts this SKN, most up to an hour or longer. I was impressed with the high quality of CW heard throughout SKN, If I had to pick a 'best fist' it would be N6KIX Rob, thankyou for the great QSO, and sharing your knowledge of Ham Radio, Tube Radios, and Keys. Best QSO was with Ann KE6OIO, a great friend I always seem to run into on the air with CW. Thanks for the long QSO Ann, Hi...Look forward to next years SKN, CU Then. 73's Mike -- KF6PVY
