01/04/2007 | W4YD Although it took awhile to readjust my old Vibroplex bug, I enjoyed a few QSO's with Bill, W9ZN in Chicago; Paul, K1SEZ in Connecticut, and the SKCC special event station in my neck of the woods, K1Y/4. The OP for K1Y/4, Frank, is my nominee for best fist. I utilized my old Swan Astro 150 Transceiver which dates from 26 years ago. After being packed away for twenty years it was brought back to life in perfect operating condition by a genuine Swan expert, Richard T. Jacinth, N6OK, in California. I ran 100 watts to a dipole antenna and was happily transported back a quarter century ago. My daughter, Gabriela, came along for the ride and looked bemused as the peculiar dance of dots and dashes from far away turned into real words on dad's notepad. -- W4YD
