01/05/2007 | NI9Y This is the best SKN ever. There was actually QRM on the narrow 80 meter CW band for a change. And it lasted all night and even during he daylight hours.
The rig this SKN was a Heathkit AT-1 running 10 watts output with a 3.546 crystal. My antenna was a double extended Zepp fed with 450 Ohm ladderline with a stub for the low end of the band.
My key was my original Novice J-47 key given to me by W9JOZ back in 1955. He was an avid CW operator and taught me the correct way to send CW.
I stayed up till 0300 hours EST and after a three hour nap started again. A special treat this SKN was getting some more SKCC numbers.
Thanks to all the stations that made the 2007 SKN the best night ever on CW.
