01/05/2007 | AA7XP My first SKN was 1993 as N7YQB. SKN 2007 0000 UTC started strong but within hours signals went wrong. I did enjoy 11 contacts, the most memorable was W0DR0, Del de Del Rio, TX. As the night was to be dedicated to straight keys I made a picture of my Speed-X Key(Nos H15 682) and wrote a brief historical rhyme.

My Key and Me

When I was a novice in '52 I saved my allowance and bought it new,
my Speed-x key was silver and bright, it was a beautiful site.

I mounted it on a walnut plaque that used to be a barometer back,
it sure looked good on that old piece of wood.

When I tapped my key I heard it ring, then I knew we could sing,
soon we were making a wonderful song, as we tapped along.

For fifty five years we sang each day, we met people far away,
we seldom saw most of those folk, but a singing key is no joke.
