01/08/2007 | NJ8BB AARRG SCURVY BRASS POUNDERS! We welcomed 2007 with SKN and by having an all NAVY night on new years eve by watching "DOWN PERISCOPE". Since I am a former Navy RadioMan, I became the hapless radioman on the movie for the night, hence the pirate hat. I had to look up on the internet on how to make a paper pirate hat! I never learned how to make one as a kid, too busy learning CW! We had seveal new hams and not so new hams who wanted to participate in skn this year. The intrest in cw is mounting in our club. We used KA8SBI, Jeff (former Navy Quartermaster) station this year with a 80/40mtr trap dipole and Nye Viking Master straigt key. Our first contact was with KB4MSU (former sonarman and my cousin) 4 miles away in his log cabin setup.
