I can't stand it any longer, I have to tell my story of SKN 2007. I have been a ham for 25 years and I have never worked SKN. Although I have wanted to, each year something comes up. The fact that I haven't used the code has something to do with it. This year I decided to try to operate SKN 2007. I am a member of SKCC (# 1889). A great group of CW ops! They believe in working with Straight Keys, and Bugs. I had contacted Kev K4VD and told him I haven't worked CW since I was licensed in 1981! I also wanted to go to a friend's house, who is a DX'er and CW op, for some coaching( hi hi). Well, wouldn't you know he wasn't going to be home and so I got my rig set-up to work SKN 2007! I have a 1946 British Admirity key, that came from a close friend Mike WA4EQM (SK). His widow gave me several of the keys he had. Well the short part of this story is, I FROZE! I listened for 4 hours, some I was copying parts of their Callsigns, but not enough to put into a log. OK now what? I have made me a promise to myself, to Kev, and anyone who will listen!! KA4WYC will be on SKN 2008! I plan to be on Field Day 2007 CW with our Club W4BFB. Listen for the op with the shaky fist. If you want to join a group that's big time SKN each and every night, check out WWW.SKCCGROUP.COM! Thanks ARRL for a Great Event! Thanks SKCC for sparking new life in an 'old' operator. Lastly, Kev - for being a true operator/elmer! Hope to hear each of you on the air soon! 73-Jeff KA4WYC -- KA4WYC
