2007 ARRL Straight Key Night
The pictures here are from 1965 when I was 15 and New Years day 2007. The old Knight-T-60, National NC-155 and Hallicrafters HA-5 VFO were up to the challenge and allowed me to make seven enjoyable QSO's.
Ron, KI4TI was amazed that I had kept my original gear as long as I had and resurected it for this contest. I mentioned that it was a tribute to my dad who passed away in July of 2006. He was my inspiration for getting my license and was with me every step of the way. I remember Christmas of 1964 when to my amazement I found a brand new Knight-Kit box under the tree. I remember all the nights assembling the kit and the pleasure it brought us when we fired it up for the first time. He was there when I made my first QSO as a novice and he was there when I needed help. Although he never got his license, he helped me with all aspects of the hobby. From stringing antennas in the dead of winter to building a pipe mast to mount my first 3 element yagi on the house, without him I never would have had the opportunities I had. Memories that are with you for life. Thanks dad!
My website has a chronological look at my activities over the years. See it at: http://www.wb2rcb.com
I'll be back next year, with the same gear, reminiscing those days gone by.
