2007 ARRL January VHF Sweepstakes

01/22/2007 | KC8JPZ Had a great time on my first contest and gave it a shot as a rover. Most of my contacts I made on 2 meters. My 6 meter loop took a bird strike and did not act right after that. Battled the ice on Sunday most of the day and had to pull over about every 15 minutes to knock it off the antennas. Can't wait for the next chance to rover again. Now that I have a better idea of what to expect I think I can improve my score by a great deal. Station consisted of my Yaesu 857D as the primary radio and homebrew half wave loops for 6 meters, 2 meters and 70cm. 821 miles were traveled and activated 7 grids and worked a total of 10 grids. Thanks to all who particapated in the contest. And a special thanks KB8CMW-Paul,KB8GHW-Mike,W8DMR-Mr.Parker, and everyone else that helped me along the way to preaparing for the contest. Could'nt have done it with out your help.
