2007 ARRL International DX Contest (CW)

05/04/2007 | FS5KA ARRL DX CW 2007 - Multi-Multi - FS5KA

Our crew this year was David (K3LP - Leader), K1LZ (Krassy), Kamal (N3KS), Dima(RA9USU-N2OW) and Chip (N2YO).

Our team worked hard together repairing a T8 beam, and installing our new donated C3 and A4 beams at Mort's (W1UQ's) St. Martin hill top station. In addition, we installed a 160 meter 1/4 wave vertical, and dipoles for 80 and 40 meters.

Our plan was to operate as M/2 with two radios and use a third radio for multipliers, but we changed this Sunday afternoon to M/M since our log was not set-up to track radios on the air and the third radio was used more aggressively Sunday afternoon in hopes of trying to get QSO's on 10 meters.

We could hear PJ2T, HP1XX and others further south working North America, but the 10 meter band yielded only about 200 QSO's and 25 multipliers for us. Our team exceeded my prior VP5LP and FS5UQ M/2 contest Q's and multipliers on every band except 10 meters.

Our FS5KA Team did a great job and worked very well together. We congratulate PJ2T and HP1XX for there success in the M/2 category.

We want to also thank Mort (W1UQ) for allowing us to use his FS5UQ St. Martin hill top station.

The ARRL DX CW contest proves to be great fun each year. -- K3LP
