2007 ARRL International DX Contest (Phone)

03/05/2007 | KB0HH The Salt Plains ARC met at the Bunkhouse, which is the KB0HH contest station, in conjunction with the contest. The Salt Plains club is located in the area southwest of Wichita Kansas and northwest of Enid Oklahoma, about 12 miles south of the Kansas/Oklahoma border.

The operators signing the logs were WD0GTY, N9TRC, K0IFR, KA0KCI, ND5I, and KB0HH. WD0GTY was the main QSO generator because he stayed in the chair while the other ops visited and ate!

The equipment used during the contest was: 10 meters .. 5 element yagi and 100 watts, 15 meters .. 3 elements and 100 watts, 20 meters .. 3 elements and 1000 watts, 40 meters .. j-pole and 1000 watts, 80 meters .. j-pole and 1000 watts, and 160 meters .. 1/4 wave vertical and 100 watts. All bands were finaly used as 10 meters opened late in the contest with good signals.

The contest was a good educational experience for the club members and visitors. There was great operating, good food, and the best hand-shaking-and-back-slapping ever. Thanks to all participants and visitors for a great time. -- KB0HH
