2007 ARRL International DX Contest (Phone)

03/05/2007 | KD9MS I work every weekend of the year, except this one. It was fun. I started on 15 for 1 contact, it seemed dead which was an indication of how 10 would be on Saturday. 20 was great. 40 was good for me too as was 80. I could actually hear on 80 and the noise was down this year. After I got all I could find there I went to 160. For the first time I had an antenna that I thought would make it there, inverted vee. At least I would be able to make a few contacts on the closer stations. I keyed the mic to call someone and when I unkeyed, everything was dead. I lost my 160 antenna! No 160 this year either! Haven't fixed it yet.
Then on Saturday morning, my VFO knob locked up on my FT-990. Fortunately my dad has one so I borrowed his and was able to finish.

10 was wierd! Totally dead on Saturday when I finally got through Europe on 15 and 20. Talk about strange openings on
Sunday, I could hear TI8II 20 over on 28.485 and a couple of stations in LU and PP and CE, but only from 28.430 or so up to about 28.520, nothing below 430 and nothing closer than TI. NO Caribbean. I am glad that it opened at least to that area. Come on sunspots!!!
