2007 ARRL June VHF Contest

06/11/2007 | N6VMO Again, the Satellite Amateur Radio Club site on Vandenberg Air Force Base provided an excellent VHF/UHF contest experience. At ~935' AMSL, being relatively remote and noise free, this site offers some of the best VHF/UHF operating on the California Central Coast.

This year, the N6VMO Multi-Op High Power (MOHP) contest station was operated by N6VMO and Daniel KI6FBU.

KI6FBU is active on 2M FM and this was Daniel's first experience in VHF/UHF weak signal operation. Daniel provided many long haul 50/144/432/902 and 1296MHz QSO points during the weekend.

50MHz provided many contacts with other CA stations, but the band openings never held up very long. We managed to gather three QSO points with very quick openings to Canada and Texas.

902MHz and 1296MHz saw contacts with AF6O in the High Desert in grid DM14 and
K6QXY's 1296MHz signal from CM88, hugged the coastline south to earn us some valuable QSO points.

Weather was fantastic, with temps in the 70s, a light breeze and blue skies.

See you all again in September.
