06/14/2007 | K0XXX Due to family considerations we were not able to devote our full attention to this years contest. My wife K5QQQ, daughter K0QQQ, and myself worked as a Limited Multi station operating primarily on 6 & 2 meters.

Unfortunately, we were reminded that Murphy still climbs towers, as we had to work the entire contest with the antennas pointing west. This made it tough to work the larger population centers of St. Louis (NE) Memphis (SE), and Little Rock (S). Still, we had a lot of fun and even managed to work one of the larger contest stations, K8GP, to the east (EM46 to FM08) on 2m tropo. A couple of brief 6m openings made for some added enjoyment.

We ended up with a total of only 73 contacts, 54 on 6m, 18 on 2m, and 1 on 70cm. We managed 42 grids on 6m, 13 grids on 2m, and 1 on 432 (hand held antenna). We may not be a threat in the Score categories, but I'm sure we were in the running in the Fun category. We are eagerly looking forward to September!
