2007 ARRL June VHF Contest

06/12/2007 | K0AWU Enjoyable as always, but the activity was below normal for a June contest. Conditions were very flat for the most part with 432 being better than the lower frequencies more than once.

New high personal contest grid counts on 432(18), 1296(8) and 10Ghz(4). This was the first real contest for me on 902 and I was very happy with the six QSOs in 6 grids. Very impressed with the 902 signals, looks like a very nice band.

24% of my contest total was rover contacts and 20% was from the limited 6m Es that occurred mid day Sunday. The Es opening had a very small footprint in the Southeastern US.

Overall, the contest total was a "low average" June total, but I still had some nice contacts. Among the highlights, a 902 and 1296 contact with Barry VE4MA over our difficult 248 mile path and two nice 233mile 10Ghz tropo contacts with W0ZQ/R in EN43 and EN33. At 233 miles, these contacts bettered my previous 10Ghz tropo best by over 75miles. NEAT!
