2007 ARRL June VHF Contest

06/13/2007 | W7JLC W7JLC and the gang (+N7CW, KD7IOG, KE7JKT) operated from the top of Mingus Mountain, east of Prescott, AZ. The altitude was 8700 feet and the nights were cool. It was a beautiful location and the weather was perfect.
Unfortunately, the bands were not as perfect. We had a few short openings on 6 meters and our best DX on 2 meters was N6CW in southern California. We ran 100 Watts on 6 and 2, and 50 Watts on 432.
We had visitors from the two local radio clubs, the Verde Valley Amateur Radio Association and the Yavapai Amateur Radio Club. Members helped with the antenna erection and take down, as well as hosting a great hamburger BBQ Saturday evening.
We learned a lot from the experience and will improve on things next year. -- WJLC
