2007 ARRL Field Day
We had a great field day. We worked a 5A site with GOTA, APRS, Telpac, 6 Meter, 2 Meter, 440, 10, 15, 20 cw & phone, 40 cw & phone, 80 and a solar station for all bands. Pretty much we did a WAB&WAM (worked all bands & worked all modes) field day. Some of the local agencies provided interoperability towers for field training on setup, safety, and teardown of regional emergency equipment. We had a lot of fun with installing antennas, some stations had up to 3 antennas, depending upon band. There were two birthday's at the Saturday night dinner, one of which was Walt W4TKE a very active ham since 1954 and also the local repeater trustee, and a 14 year old that made her way into contesting via PSK31 this year. We had our Sheriff and a lot of agencies participation this year including Red Cross with their new interoperability vehicle that was on tour of the gulf states.
This is dedicated to Bob Wallace (K4YNT) a great friend of mine, Alachua County Sheriff Office, and the Gainesville Amateur Radio Community. Bob passed away suddenly here in Gainesville, FL. Bob work with me at my radio shop at the Sheriff Office, he loved radio, he worked contacts on HF before coming into work, he fixed radios at work, he played radio when he left. Bob was a great freind to me an many others and he was only in our lives here in Florida for a year and touch everyone of us. We will miss you Bob and hope that you are working all those DX contacts from that great radio shack in the sky.
