2007 ARRL Field Day

06/25/2007 | N1EV 2007 - The Greater Norwalk Amateur Radio Club - Norwalk, CT - WWW.GNARC.ORG

The weather in Connecticut was excellent for Field Day weekend...warm, dry, sunny & breezy.

Our Field Day Chairman, Ziggy N1ICL, had his hands full as we lost our previous site to a "Jazz Festival" and had to adapt to a new beach front park right on Long Island Sound. But we have a crack setup/tear down team so we were able to get started fairly close to 1800 GMT. The move did take its toll on our performance as we tried to adjust to the new location.

On the bright side however again this year we had a fantastic chef, Mark KB1JGL, who came up with a great menu for the entire weekend featuring a wonderful Saturday evening dinner.

We filed 3A but with CW falling far behind SSB in the numbers.
This mainly due to not having nearly as many CW operators as we had last year. 20M was our best band.

As for bonus points, we claimed 100% Emergency Power, Media Publicity, Setup in a Public Location, Public Information Table, NTS message to our Section Manager - K1EIC, Five Natural Power QSOs Completed, GOTA Station, W1AW Field Day Message, Three Non Traditional Mode demonstration, Site Visit by an Elected Official, Site Visit by a Served Agency Official, Youth Participation and Electronically Submitted Field Day Entry.
