2007 ARRL Field Day

06/26/2007 | W6GMT GREETINGS FROM THE CHIPPEWA NATIONAL FOREST

This is the 6th Field Day from the North Star
Camp Ground in the Chippewa National Forest on
HWY 38 about 5 miles south of the small town of
Marcell MN just 50 miles south of the Canadian
border as the crow flies. I work for the USFS as a
volunteer camp ground host. I am there from the 1st
week in April to the first week in Oct. The Trailer is
a 13 foot SCAMP.

This year we chose to run a total solar power
station QRP using a 70 AH Glass Matt Battery
charged with a Solar Panel. Lighting is provided
with LED strips.

The rig was My Yaesu FT-857D set at 5 watts
we use a KMA5054T log at about 30 feet for
6 and 2 meters. For 10 Meters we have a Solarcon
A99 vertical and home made rotating Dipole, wires
are used for 15 and 40.

For our Satellite contacts we used my FT-857D
and a 2M/70CM Log antenna built by KF0AK.

Our class was 1E and the Section was MN. -- W6GMT
