2007 ARRL Field Day
Friday night dinner was as always great with plenty of food and of course plenty of people ( about 35-40 guests ) Lisa( N1NFO )and crew do a super job ! Saturday had hot dogs and hamburgers with left over's from the night before. I think we filled the canopy's which were 10 X 60 feet with the crew. So nice to see new people and guests come out to join in and see what field day is all about.
Bands were not as good as years past but if we had problems so did others so our score should be as good or maybe a little lower than last year but the fun and enjoyment was sure there by our team effort. Special thanks to all and to Gene ( AA1XD ) and the antenna crew for the preperation in making sure the antenna systems were all ready. Pete ( K1HZU ) for the super try on the satellite system as many hours of work went into the production. Everyone did learn something from the event and all the other great demostrations we put on. I think a lot of interest was shown by the Amateur Television so mabe we will have a few more doing that part of ham radio soon.
I would say there were many "KODAK MOMENTS" and lots of great company and new friends were made and that is what field day is all about. It was nice to also see so many young people join in ( not to mention Leland - KB1OVX ) who is 7 years old and was a pro to the team effort. This young man if you get a chance to speak with is a up and coming star to ham radio. To all of you who put in so many hours before and during the event my hat is off to you as you are a team and a darn good one at that as our score will tell the story again this year. Maine is still on the map because of the KCARES TEAM !! See you all down the log and hope everyone did enjoy 2007 and was Bitten By The Bug !! -- K1PIG
