06/29/2007 | KP4ES The Puerto Rico Amateur Radio League (PRARL)once again returned to the Bacardi Grounds for the annual Field Day exercise. We started mounting by 10:30am and began operating by 3pm. We had more fellow ham visitors this time and even the visit of Oscar Sotomayor Director of Operations of the PR Emergency Management Emergency looking for help to instruct others on obtaining their license.

As the past year, 20 meters was the band to operate and 40 meters during the night, even though propagation was not at it's best this time (15 and 10 meters were nil!), Even PSK31 and RTTY were pretty active as I did a few contacts Sunday morning, and we on the SSB side won over CW . . . Where was the Team CW? Well, Hector-NP4FW and Carlos-WP4AOH were the ones to support Team CW.

During the night we had more visit from fellow hams that we did not see for quite some time, so we told stories of our ventures on the airwaves. And during the end of operations the PRARL was presented a proclamation from the House of Representatives recognizing the value of Amateur Radio in Puerto Rico to our president Francisco Diaz-NP3OD. We also had he visit of our new Section Manager Roberto Jimenez-KP4AC.
