The South Ga Amateur Radio Club operated its 29th straight Field Day contest from a farm site in Quitman, Brooks County, Ga. With only 7 operators the club loged just over 1800 contacts with approx 1300 phone and 500 CW. A new computer logging program was used for the first time and proved to be a success. The temperature in south Georgia was in the upper 90's and the humidity high. Typical late June weather. Our score of just over 5,000 should give us a good representation for Georgia and the Fourth Call District. Antennas were strung from Pecan trees and stations were located in seperate barn buildings. Power was from a Coleman 5000 generator. The food was typical burgers, dogs, chips and honeybuns and lots of cold water. With the extreme dry weather conditions, the mosquitos were not an issue this year. -- WD4ERM
