2007 ARRL Field Day
The Santa Fe Trails Amateur Radio Club, KS0KS, of Olathe,Kansas, completed their 7th year of field day practice and competition using the scenic location with comfortable and shady grounds.
Several types of antennas were in use and added much beneficial practice for any unexpected need in the future. Visitors saw wire antennas supported by a variety of very old and large trees. Also seen were verticals and beam antennas made with simplicity and functionality in mind, as well as the converted cellular antenna converted to use as a trailer mobile of great height and retractable to a fold-over able to go anywhere suitable. The Johnson County Kansas Sheriffs department created the terrific emergency use antenna for use by the local amateur radio groups as an ECS tool. It carries with it a 440 repeater that is mobile too.
The SFTARC membership has been granted first choice as Field Day activity users. They are the group from Olathe, KS, which also is home of the museum. In fact, the members have accepted the challenge of becoming the tour docents of the Ensor Park & Museum in 2007.
