2007 ARRL Field Day

07/01/2007 | W7Q Despite limited propagation during this years Field Day, its always a good time for the Hoodview ARC. Using the call sign W7Q, operations were set up on Larch Mountain located east of Portland, Oregon in the foothills of the Cascade Range at an elevation of four thousand feet.

3A HF operations included CW, phone and packet which was the only station to make any contacts above 20 meters. The VHF station was treated to a short Sporadic E opening Saturday evening. A group of Boy Scouts camped nearby and got some hands-on hamming at the GOTA station.

Along with all the radio fun, as always there was lots of great conversation and good food. As part of an exercise of it own, Red Cross Disaster Service served up a Saturday evening supper. Just afterwards a few evening showers passed through, however that did not put the dampers on another great Field Day. -- KL7WP
