2007 ARRL Field Day

07/05/2007 | K8ESQ Field 2007 was again held at the northern Michigan cottage of K8ESQ or the Flaming Porcupine Lodge (FPL) as we like to call it. We had the usual complement of operators plus a couple of new participants including an ex-ham from the 60s who now has a renewed interest in ham radio.

Antennas went up Saturday morning with only minor problems. We have 10 acres to put antennas on, but all the trees are both a blessing and a curse.

We managed, after an hour or two of fighting with the computer system, to get the new networked logging system working so that all stations were running on a common log.

Saturday evening, grilled steaks and baked potato (Roughing-it only goes so far at the FPL) kept us going far passed my bed time.

Cant wait for next year, maybe we will add a digital station then.
