2007 ARRL International EME Competition

12/08/2007 | I1NDP First time int the ARRL competition with my new 432 array.
I had great fun during the first leg where I ended up with a satisfactory 42 * 22 score. Conditions were extremely good with Europe and good with Japan, less satisfactory with North American stations with fixed polarization.

Second leg was a different story.
In the hurry of terminating the antenna for the contest the feed lines have been installed very far from what a good practice would suggest, 4 days of continuous rain did the rest. SWR raised to a 5/1 and i was able to participate only to the last moon passage once the rain quit and a section of transmission line replaced. At that time conditions were poor (again problems with US heard loudly but unable to get a reply) and not too many stations left on the band.
Total score was a 49 * 25 (CW only). It was a pity but a good lesson because i have to blame only myself.
Feed lines are OK now.
Thanks anyway to everybody especially those i could not copy when they called me.

73, and to the next,
Nando -- I1NDP
