2001 ARRL November Sweepstakes (Phone)

04/18/2002 | K7RI Got off to VERY slow start on 10. Don't know why, except QRM was terrible with lots of strong signals bleeding over onto whatever frequency I tried. Should have gone much higher in band I guess. Also surprised at very low QSO total on 15 meters but 10 was great, probably reason 15 QSO count was so surprisingly low. Sunday afternoon, as always, was a drag with not many new stations to work. How about a 10 hour entry classification for those of us who like lots of rate but get tired of calling CQ seemingly forever on Sunday afternoon with way too few responses to justify the time expended? Also, not just for SS but for all ARRL sponsored contests (actually ALL contests), how about separate classifications for single op single radio and single op two (or more) radios? It is hardly fair for those with one radio to be forced to compete against people using more than one radio. To my way of thinking good insight was used in establishing separate categories for those who do it all themselves versus those who prefer to utilize some form of assistance, such as packet and other forms of spotting networks --- be they real-time radio controlled or otherwise. Leveling the playing field certainly would be appreciated by the majority of the contest community. At least that is my take on it. See you in the pileups next year! -- K7RI
