2008 ARRL June VHF Contest
It was a great party for a change, fun camping and great all night round tables on VHF!
I had a few issues with crazies in the middle of the night and a 60 MPH early morning wind storm that sagged my antenna systems.
I ran 100 watts on all bands, never breaking out the qro on two or six meters. Operated 3.1.
Six seemed to be in and out just enough to bring some extra points without dominating the contest. Two meter propagation was excellent south and east, poorer north from here CN85cf, Hebo. 1.25 meters was great, though as usual few operators here on the worlds best tropo band. UHF was as usual, long Yagis trying to find each other.
Best long hauls were all on 2m, with CM87 SF Bay, and Len in CM89. Idaho stations all made breakfast on 2m right off the bat on Saturday for three qso to DN13 and one to DN23. Greatest distance was CM87.
My score:
6m: 121 QSO, 52 Multi
2m: 84 QSO, 26 Multi
1.25m: 16 QSO, 9 Multi
0.7m: 21 QSO, 7 Multi
A measly 14,258 points..
Lots of fun though!
