2008 ARRL June VHF Contest

06/16/2008 | KQ6EE kq6ee was at San Gabriel Peak (6000+') hold an umbrella to do cq contest on both day total about 13 hrs. Other hikers said that I was smart to have an umbrella. Saturday morning, I arrived at the mountain peak at 1:00 PM because I went to Catalina Repeater Association breakfast at the morning. I worked until 7:00 pm. By the time I arrived home was 8:45 pm. On Sunday, I got to the same spot at about 8:00 am, and worked until 3:00 pm. I should camp out at Mt. Disappointment but I didn't want to sleep with wet pant and shirt because of the hot weather, even with an umbrella. That's why I had to go home. I did QRP from 6 meter to 1.2ghz except 900mhz. Antennas were dual band beam for 2m/440, mag-mount for 2m/6m, and ht telescopic antennas. I got a new grid which is DM 05; I was seldom to get that. And I got more DM12 (San Diego) ever than before. And I got couple 1.2 ghz QSO; that's excited. I didn't bring my camera this time because it weight almost a pound (not digital). See you all on the Field Day if you can hear me. -- KQ6EE
