2008 ARRL June VHF Contest

06/21/2008 | N4HWH I operated contest on top of Roan Mountain, Tenn. EM86, elevation 6,285 ft. Score not that high but did best that I have ever done as a single op. The Rhododendron flowers were in full bloom and the mountain and trails were spectacular. Six meters was wide open on Sat. & Sun. which gave me lots of contacts in DM grids. Finally worked Mexico after calling through pileup for close to an hour. Did not do as well on 2 meters even though band was open Sun. morning. Arrived on mountain from home on late Fri evening and left on Monday afternoon. Used only loop antennas and wire antennas (no yagi's) for this contest. Another great contest and thanks ARRL and all OPs for QSO's. ("HAVE FUN ON SIX!)
