NJ1Q/1
Given that I had a few family obligations that weekend, I wasn't sure if participation was even going to be possible. (Besides, I didn't have a good 6-meter antenna to start.) After some "prodding by a good friend to operate," I opted to quickly whip up an simple 6-meter dipole. Using the support I have for HF operations (one I use when active from our place in Rhode Island), I mounted the dipole up about 12 feet. With that antenna and a Yaesu FT-897D, I managed to work 12 stations (one as far away as Texas) in a few short hours. I even heard an XE2! Not too shabby. -- NJ1Q
