06/29/2008 | WD9EWK 2008 was the third consecutive Field Day where I operated only via satellite. For this year, I had brought along two FT-817NDs, in the hope of making contacts on non-FM satellites like VO-52 and AO-7. I was not successful with that, but I was able to make contacts on the 3 FM satellites (AO-27, AO-51, SO-50) with my 5W/handheld Yagi portable station from approximately 85 miles northeast of Phoenix. Despite the work to be heard through the satellites, it was fun.
