2008 ARRL Field Day

06/29/2008 | WI9MRC The Milwaukee Repeater Club completed it's Field Day Exercise at Whitnal Park in Milwaukee WI.
The club has been setting up in Milwaukee county Parks for the past several years since 2001. This years event was a great deal of fun. But as is normal we experienced a bit of severe weather. Thunder storms rolled in from the west and caused a couple tents to be damaged. Fifty mile per hour winds damaged 2 of the high profile tents used for operating. But there were no injuries, and everyone had a great time in spite of the rain.
When it was not raining the weather was beautiful.

We Operated under the Club call sign WI9MRC. Our GOTA station was provided by K9VS from Waukesha. Jeff has always done a great job giving new hams as well as non-hams and opportunity to "get on the air" an accomplished contester in his own right, he makes it easy for new comers to get the thrill of the hunt.

The Co-chairs for the event KC9COY and KC9FMC did a great job coordinating the event, as did the Club President Dean KB7QDI. Thanks guys for continuing this great opportunity to "play radio" and see old friends. I also thank them for giving me an opportunity to do a bit of contesting. I had a blast making voice contacts.
