06/30/2008 | K8ES Greetings fellow Field Day Devotees!!

The Delaware Amateur Radio Association (DELARA) once again operated our FD from the beautiful Scioto Park and Nature area located here in Delaware, Ohio. I would like to say we had great weather, but that would be a lie! We had 57 mph winds and lightning that made us shut down our equipment and run for cover in our vehicles several times this past weekend. Even through all the bad weather we still managed to have our club picnic during FD and had quite a few guests stop by to check out our site. As always it was a great FD!

We were 4A with 2 CW and 2 Phone and of course our GOTA station. We also have a pretty elaborate information booth. We operate as K8ES with our GOTA station using the call of W8JK.

We dedicated this FD to Arch, W8HWA who passed away a few days before FD. Arch was our information booth coordinator (along with his son Don, KD8BHF).

There are some great stories in the Soapbox and I have enjoyed reading them. Sounds like almost everyone had an enjoyable FD!
