2008 ARRL Field Day

08/01/2008 | W5DSC This was a combined event for the Victoria Amateur Radio Club and the Coleto Creek Amateur Radio Club. The clubs are located in Victoria and Yorktown, Texas. This year we were in Victoria.

The guys-n-gals who helped set up and operate: Harvey WB5MCT, Pat KC5WNH, John WA5VBP, Paul K5ODR, Dave NV5C, John N5JDN, Kerry WD5ABC, Bob KE5LYW, Russell N5HAM, Cliff KD5BXV, Tammy KD5ISP and Rodney W5DY. There were other hams who came by for a visit and we even had one who took a test and upgraded to extra as we had a VE team on hand as well.

It was a typical hot day in South Texas with temperatures near 100. With the help of a lot of hams and plenty of cool drinks, everything was set up and ready to go at start-up time. Of course, being in Texas, we had to have BBQ, and it was there.

Thanks to Walmart for allowing us to use a grassy area next to their parking lot. It was great for exposure as this is one of the busiest parking lots in town. Literally thousands of people drove by and either looked or stopped to see what was going on.

A really FB Field Day this year and looking forward to next year.
