2008 ARRL Field Day

08/06/2008 | K7AUO For the third year in a row TERAC club station K7AUO operated from Ocean Park, Washington (ARRL section WWA), and category 1A. Operators included Chuck Barrows, K7BVT, Blaine Smith, W7JHJ, and Bob Jenkins, W7BKN.
We had a 30 tower with a two element tri band beam, a 135 dipole fed with window line up about 60 and a 14AVQ vertical. Equipment included a Kenwood TS-440, MFJ 989, and Honda EU2000.
We had a total of 392 contacts. Forty meters was the hot band this year with 211 phone contacts followed by twenty meters with 99 combined phone and CW, eighty meters 79 phone contacts, and 3 fifteen meter contacts. This compares to ~200 contacts in 2007 and ~175 contacts in 2006 so we are improving. We were off the air for about six hours for dinner and sleep. We did not have any particular RFI problems with the Honda generator but would appreciate comments and suggestions from others on RFI suppresion with this generator. We are considering adding digital next year and would also appreciate any information on typical number of stations operating the various digital modes during field day.
