07/14/2008 | NU4B Nice contest even though conditions were not very good for 4 watts and a windom. Even though I beat last years score, I had to make many more QSO's and had much less multipliers. With a flux of 65 or 66, its hard to get 4 watts to travel very far without some spectacular antennas. Most of the QSO's were NA, but did work a few EU HQ stations like E7HQ, YT8HQ, etc... Finally got through to CX1AA after many attempts. I ended up with 32 countries worked. The rig was an HW-9 and the antenna was a Carolina Windom short 80.

I always enjoy this contest and can't wait until next year now that we will have this solar minimum out of the way. Come on sunspots! -- NU4B
