2008 ARRL November Sweepstakes (Phone)
I had a ball! It was fun to see how well my station can do with SSB and I must say I did not do too bad. This was the first time ever getting on 75M SSB (that I can remember) and I was able to reach the west coast with my low dipole. Some folks even told me I had a big signal on 75M (I was pretty surprised).
I would start at the bottom of the band and work my way up. After going through the band a couple times, I would pick a new band. 80 and 40 is where I got my most contacts. Most of the time I was able to get them on the first try.
After about 11 hours worth of operating, hunting and pouncing, I worked 176 qsos, and 71 sections. Not bad for not trying too hard..
I may start doing more SSB contests in the future, but for now, it's back to pounding brass.
Thanks for the fun time guys!!
