2008 ARRL November Sweepstakes (Phone)
It all came together by a comment made at FD this past June by AA8MC who said he always wanted to do something for SS. From there we started talking about it and next thing you know CQ ss!
The bad news is Casey, AA8MC was unable to make it, but his dad, Steve (Tom) AA8HH, Chuck K8CR and myself moved forward.
It was the first time the station had been in contest mode in over a year and happy to say it survived with the exception of a remote antenna switch that arced over and burnt up a relay, lost only a few minutes of op time changing out to a manual switch.
Was able to make 700 QSO's and 79 sections, we were never able work North Dakota.
As always for any ham radio event in the K8DV shack, lots of good food and drink ranging from good Texas Chili, Sloppy Joe's and good cold beer.
Our small group is now looking at maybe participating in the ARRL 160 contest, so may see you there or maybe the 10 meter one.
Best 73 and see you next time,
Dave, K8DV -- K8DV
