12/08/2008 | N1BUG I'm not sure if that was fun or torture! I'm usually of the "life's too short for QRP" mindset, but I decided to try the single op QRP category this year.

Being QRP I did mostly S&P. I got a lot of practice sending my callsign and "5NN ME"! I found I could fairly easily get a run going but being QRP makes holding a run frequency virtually impossible. Propagation to the west coast was mostly poor this year. I wasn't sure what to expect but am pleased to be able to claim 388 QSO's and 62 multipliers including several DX stations.

It was an interesting experience. Will I ever do this QRP again? Never say never, but probably not. I have earned new respect for those who do this QRP every year. -- N1BUG
