12/15/2008 | W0KT I used a 40 meter dipole at 20 feet with my IC-765 running 100 W. My signal was hard to fish out of the noise on Saturday. Kudos to these far-flung stations who pulled my signal out of a nearly dead band: W9XT, K4ZGB, W0ZA, K0FX, K1TO. A lump of coal to the station in Des Moines who blithely continued calling CQ after I called him in more than a dozen instances. After my first, hard-fought QSOs I came home after church on Sunday to find the band open for my next 50 QSOs, which were a lot easier than my first seven. -- W0KT
