01/03/2009 | KB4QQJ/K3Y/4 Well, SKN 2009 is in the log. I didn't get to play but a few hours but made around 50 contacts. What a sound. All the straight keys, bugs and cooties just pounding away. I've been straight keying for only a scant 25 years, but never fail to get a kick out of SKN. I operated my DRAKE TR-4C complete with Drake A-4 power supply/speaker and Drake W-4 watt meter. Used my Navy CJB-2600 3A straight key and 1954 Vibroplex Blue Racer mostly, but switched between several other keys, bugs and sideswipers. Lot of Straight Key Century Club (SKCC)calls out there too. A great group of very friendly CW operators. January is the SKCC's Special Event month. Have a listen all month for a K3Y call. It will be a straight key, bug or cootie you hear every time.
