01/03/2009 | W1RO/7 The sun set on another great SKN. It was a pleasure to hear the music of straight keys coming through the airwaves. I only worked 3 quality SKN contacts. One each on 40, 20, and 15 meters. Two of these were stateside stations and one was DX. The DX station and a special event station K3Y/2 were both listed as Straight Key Century Club (SKCC) members. It was nice to look up their calls on the SKCC web site and find there are now over 5000 members promoting the use of straight keys, and other mechanical keys, in a club. I look forward the ARRL straight key night each year and attempt to keep in practice with the many events run by SKCC thoughout the year.
