2009 ARRL Straight Key Night

01/09/2009 | K6KPH It was another great New Year's Eve at the Maritime Radio Historical Society. The tubes in the classic transmitters in Bolinas were glowing, ready to hurl the lightning skyward. At the receive site in Pt. Reyes the operators were ready and waiting for 0000Z. At the zero hour Denice "DA" Stoops and Richard "RD" Dillman began working amateur stations from K6KPH. Meanwhile our commercial coast station KSM was on the air on the 4, 6, 8, 12 and 16Mc HF marine bands and on 426 and 500kc MF. Teletype broadcasts were made on 8 and 12Mc. This gave listeners a chance to hear the station during the hours of darkness Pacific time. Denice was the big draw on 80m while Richard worked stations on 40m and 20m. Many old friends were contacted and many new friends were met. Thanks to all who called. We look forward to next year. Please see our Web site at http://www.radiomarine.org -- W6AWO
