01/01/2010 | N2COP Two classic winter events on the same day! Straight Key Night (SKN) and the NHL's annual Winter Classic. Here is Bill, N2COP, with his Kent straight key and Yaesu FT-817D trying to make QSOs and watch the game between the Boston Bruins and the Philadelphia Flyers. Bill is a "2" call living in "4" land, but grew up as a "1" call near Boston (WN1NOP) and is a lifelong Bruins fan, with his adopted Carolina Hurricanes a close second.

Conditions were meager. QRP wasn't robust enough to break through QRM, so switched to the QRO rig at 60 watts. Made some nice, leisurely calls on 40 and 20. SKN and the NHL's "Winter Classic" - two New Year's highlights.
