2009 ARRL January VHF Sweepstakes

01/20/2009 | N3ALN I had a great time participating in the contest as a low power station. This year I added 1296 MHz and 903 MHz and I just got 903 MHz up a few days before the contest date. I observed that there were not the band openings in past contests. I worked a bunch of locals and I think Sunday the football games affected participation. A big thanks to all those that I did work! I also want to thank W3ZZ, N3JPU and N1SZ for helping me get on 903 MHz.

This year I did have my personal best score and made more contacts than previous years. All equipment worked well with the exception of a 2 meter RF Concepts 2-417 Amp that would cut my receive audio intermittently.....not sure that is causing that??

Here's the breakdown: 50 MHz - 96 QSOs 17 Grids, 144 MHz - 87 QSOs 18 grids, 22 MHz - 28 QSOs 10 Grids, 432 MHz - 38 QSOs 10 Grids, 902 MHz - 10 QSOs 4 Grids, 1296 MHz - 9 QSOs 3 Grids.

391 QSO Points x 62 multipliers = 24242 Total Claimed Score

I am new to ham radio and I really appreciate all the help that was giving to me. The hams mentioned above and many others that make our hobby thrive.
