03/01/2009 | KH6/W3GW For our effort, Maria and I travelled to Wainapanapa State Park, in Hana, on the island of Maui, to operate in the low power category. Here is a picture of me operating my trusty 10 watt 'Travelradio' originally described by Rick Littlefield, K1BQT, in the June 1987 issue of Ham Radio. This little transceiver has kept me company, during my travels, for years. A K1EL keyer, my Palm Radio miniature paddles, and my Emtech ZM-2 antenna tuner rounded out my station. I settled for a horizontal loop just under the roof of our cabin to do the radiating. Next year we will return vying for the Qrp honors with a better antenna.
