2009 ARRL June VHF Contest

06/15/2009 | N5QYC It was fun to get back into VHF contesting after a prolonged absence.
My score wasn't the greatest but I was just getting my feet wet after a long time with no vhf/uhf capable ssb radio. With my new ICOM 7000 I was more than able to hold my own. Band conditions were good except for the strong station that was less than a mile from my QTH. His strong effort at high power on 6 meters made my efforts that much more of a challange. 6 mtrs was the high light of the contest with signals coming in from the east coast and out west. My most memorable contact was with KB7EEG in DN41. All the contacts I made were a renewal of my contesting spark. Thanks for the fun and see you next contest. Joe EM36JE -- N5QYC
