AI9Z
As one half of the Limited-Multi-Op (operating as AI9Z) during the contest, I can say we had a pretty good time. Over the past 15 years or so of operating at Brockway Mountain (EN67) in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, we've seen many types of band conditions and weather. This year had excellent weather (sunny and 65-70 degrees the whole weekend!), however, the black flies were horrible this year! Some of the highlights included all the folks that stopped to ask what we were doing and listening to Joe (AI9Z) explain ham radio and contesting to them. We also had a nice, although fairly short (few hours) opening into DM and DN land on Sunday morning, which is unusual for us up there. Another highlight was hearing an operator asking another operator if they had heard us...he couldn't believe there was anybody in EN67, so we broke in and told him it was true indeed. Sounded like we made his day! Another highlight was sweeping all bands with N8PUM (50, 144, 222 and 432) at about 65 miles between us. That doesn't sound like much, but we only had my little W1GHZ 222 transverter with 5W out into a homebrew 6 element Yagi. For the 432 QSO, we just used the 13B2 2M antenna and about 15W. -- N0EDV
