2009 ARRL June VHF Contest
We had really good condx on 6 meters, and some really sorry condx on the upper UHF bands until Sunday evening. Condx did pick up near the end of the contest. We worked XE2OR in DL98 on 2 meters at a distance of over 600 miles with some extended tropo. No 2 meter E's were heard from here.
The operating crew appreciates the efforts of the rovers that came by the 4 corners near us and the locals that called us from home!! We call that community and club support. You guys and gals are appreciated!! A few hams from a club in the northwest part of Oklahoma convoyed to the 4 corners to the northeast of us near midnight Saturday and added a great number of contacts .. .. thank you guys!! The leftovers from supper were not enough for what y'all did for the contest crew!! We appreciate the efforts of all the rovers and the locals!!
As usual, we ate well, thanks to Miss Lisa - KE5HQR and Miss June - KC0CEX for the help in the Bunkhouse Kitchen!! If it werent for those gals we would have had to eat ham and cheese on cold/dry bread for the whole contest!!!! But .. .. we had smoked ribs, steak, pork loin, burgers, corn on the cob, Bunkhouse Potatoes, shrimp with a Bunkhouse Special Cocktail Sauce, Bunkhouse Special 3-egg Omelets, Bunkhouse Breakfast Sausage Sands, Bunkhouse Baked Beans .. .. not for the weak of heart .. .. and more.
The position of Bunkhouse Cook is still open .. .. please email KB0HH with a cooking resume, pictures of your roving mobile, and operating experience .. .. . June and Lisa would like to move up to being contest ops .. .. an easier task .. ..
No real glitches were experienced, fun was had by all, and we will be looking forward to the UHF contest .. .. 73 es CYL .. .. "See Y'all Later" .. .. Bunkhouse Operating Crew .. .. -- KB0HH
